Have you ever seen the American Express commercial that shows a group of people having a business meeting at a restaurant. Then there is that key moment when the lunch meeting is over and a member of the group that is trying to impress the potential clients goes to pay the bill and his credit card is one of those new personalized cards that has something like a cartoon character on it. The potential clients take that little piece of graphic on his card and immediately translate that to a company that they may not want to do business with implying a level of unprofessionalism.
What’s the point of this commercial? The point of course is that appearances make statements, right or wrong the people read a lot from the appearance of something as insignificant as what is on your credit card. Let’s take that to another level and look at the graphical value of your companies business card. Business cards like it or not speak volumes in the business world. Especially when you are in a business that has to deal with gaining the favor of potential new clients.
The business card is a powerful marketing tool like it or not. People look at a business card and immediately form an opinion of your company and it’s services. Granted those opinions are usually formed subconsciously they are formed however and when it comes to bringing in new business or getting new clients you need to make sure your business is impressing the clients on every level.
Remember that old saying that it’s the little things that matter. It’s true in business as well, your business cards are an extension of your business and if you want to be able to express the excellence of your company than you need a graphically stunning business card. I have seen some very large companies that stick to the simple generic business cards for it’s sales staff and I have also seen the small one man business owner who represents with business cards that you would think were from a billion dollar company. See it’s that little thought in the back of the persons head that could be telling them that your the company I want to do business with because you have shown me a level of excellence in the way you do business all the way down to your business card.
