Does the graphic web design of a site really dictate how much money can be made on that site or is it just a lot of talk that web designers try to sell you? Seriously though if you look at some of the more popular sites on the web the one’s that have been around for a while are actually pretty ugly when it comes to their graphic web design.

Let us take for example a site that I consider very challenged when it comes to the graphic design of the overall look to the site. Craig’s list has looked pretty much the same since it’s inception back in 1995 and to this day there really is nothing in the way of graphical web design pizazz to that site.

How about search engine sites? Do you honestly think that anyone will ever take the top spot away from the simplistic graphic design of Google. Have you gone to the redesigned graphically enhanced Microsoft version of a search engine that is now called Bing? In terms of graphic web design it is a very pleasant looking page, especially when you compare it to the very bland home search pages of all those other search engine competitors. Bing looks great like I said and it did have a pretty well received reception in it’s first three months but that has come to a screeching halt. Yes folks and this should really come as no surprise the snappy looking graphically enhanced web page of the Bing search engine is really no match for the simple looking graphically challenged Google search engine.

People like to keep things simple especially when it comes to their online content and what they are looking at. Sure you can spend the money to make pretty looking graphic images and enhanced animated features like sliding menus. Those things are just a novelty at best and in my opinion people get tired of novelties really quickly and then they move on.

There is a pretty well tested theory that has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that if you want to make money online with Google’s Adsense program then you need to build you some ugly sites. If you are really interested in this theory and seeing the proof then just Google the phrase make money online. Notice the gazillion pages the come up and just quickly on page 1 take a quick peak at that ugly blogspot website. There you will see proof positive that ugly with no graphic web enhancements can actually make you a lot of money and don’t let anyone try and convince you other wise.

Believe me when I tell you that you can spend endless hours on the web graphics of your site and that will really just end up as a lot of wasted time. Time that could have been better spent working on a plan of action to make your site popular instead of a site that is full of web graphics and pizazz that no one is going to bother to use anyway, no matter how pretty you make it…. Bing? Really Microsoft? What a giant waste of time and money that was, looks pretty from a graphic web design perspective
