Graphic Design

Hello once again web folk the last time I posted for the graphic design blog I was writing about the importance of picking the right graphics for your website. Well now as it turns out I must have spent a little too  much time thinking about that because in this past month I have run my blogs through a ton of graphical changes.  Not all of were good either at least not to me anyway.

That my friends is the both the beauty and the horror of web designing your own blog. The beauty of web design if you are like me is that it is pretty easy to learn if you have the patience to play with it. Which of course once you learn some cool new designer trick you like to take it out for a spin and try it out on all your pages. Which naturally takes some time but you don’t mind because it is fun to you. The horror of that of course is that you end up making mistakes here and there and start tweaking things and before you know it hours turn into days and days into weeks. Before you know it a whole month has gone by and you have wasted half of your normal blog writing time on tooling around with the web design of your blog.

Those of you that are consistent blog writers and have developed a pretty good following no that when you start slacking off on the frequency of your writing that so goes your traffic. The trick of course is finding a nice balance between tweaking the graphic design of your blog and keeping the new posts coming. Most bloggers are a one man or woman team so all of this falls on you unless you get to be one of those big time bloggers at which point you can have a team or pay someone to mess with your web design.

I was just curious how many of you web folk out there fall into that trap of trying to find that perfect web designthat not only fits your personality but is appealing to your audience. I suppose my problem is that I get to easily distracted by other web designs on other sites and like to try and incorporate what I see into some of my sites. Which sends me into this downward spiral graphical changes and tweaks looking for some magical design of perfection that of course I will never find and have to eventually pull myself away and refocus on the point of blogging which is more writing!
